|
|
Thursday, November 15, John Coleman, the founder of the cable TV Weather Channel and currently TV meteorologist in San Diego at KUSI began a series of short briefs trying to explain in simplified terms for the layman why he does not believe in global greenhouse warming on his KUSI climate blog.
http://www.kusi.com/weather/colemanscorner/11338421.html
Below was his original statement that got much national attention. KUSI and Icecap received hundreds of emails, better than 90% favorable, thanking John for his courage in speaking out on this issue and thanking KUSI and Icecap for covering the news the networks won’t cover. There were of course some negative responses mostly ad hominem attacks questioning motivation as is typical in this issue. Some requested John follow up with some concrete facts in understandable terms and he will begin to do that. The first brief on that link will address the ‘hockey stick”.
By John Coleman
It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an illusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus. Read the rest of the original blog here.

| Isn't it incredible how things are unravelling very fast lately. The established elite in many countries that cannot recognize change and adapt to this big coming wave will go under. |

1. John Coleman is not a climate scientist, so why do you believe his views over those that are?
2. John Coleman has not published any peer reviewed papers on climate change, so why do you believe his views over those that have?
3. John Coleman is part of an organisation backed by fossil fuel interests, so why do you believe the views of vested interests?
"The Web site domain name for ICECAP was registered on October 20, 2006 by Joseph D'Aleo, who is listed among the personnel of the Science and Public Policy Institute, another organization that promotes the views of global warming skeptics that is backed by the Frontiers of Freedom[2]."

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Frontiers_of_Freedom
4. Why do you imagine sections of the Global elite who are fighting to the bloody death in order to preserve their right to consume fossil fuels have any interest in curbing that use?
5. What, beside fossil fuels, will maintain centralised control?
Basic research tools folks:
a. Is this person qualified in the field?
b. Have they published relevant research in the peer-reviewed science press?
c. Are they connected to funding from the fossil fuel industry? |

PS - and those sections of the "Elite" that have half-heartedly woken up to Global Warming (credit where credit's due), have only done so because they realise the consequences will completely fuck-up their bottom line. Hence the seemingly confusing spectacle of some sections of the powers-that-be spruiking for the right thing, even if some of their "Solutions" are unworkable and inequitable (nothing new there).
The other sections only care about their shot of Viagra . . . even if they expire in the process (nothing new there either). |

| Much of global warming is a scam and a money making racquet. I'm a farmer and a scientist and have lived on this property fpr 22 years and have had it hot, dry, cold and wet and everthing is just the same as it was back then so if there is a bit of climate change it is mighty slow. It keeps some academics in the city in a job pushing out a lot of paper and the carbon trading idea is more nonsense, and gives governments another reason to tax us. The only thing it may be a bit good for is making people in the city care for nature and the development of solar energy and other forms of power. |

1. What are your qualifications in climate science?
2. Have you ever published any peer-reviewed papers on climate change in the appropriate journals?
3. If you have no specific qualifications in climate science, and have not published (for peer review), any research on climate science, what leads you believe you know better than people like . . .
Dr. Graeme Pearman:
http://www.dar.csiro.au/profile/pearman.html
http://www.science.org.au/events/fenner2007/pearman.htm
Dr. Tim Flannery:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Flannery
The Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists:
http://www.wentworthgroup.org/about/
. . . and multiple other professionals from around the Globe, similarly qualfied, experienced and published? For instance, I qualified as a psychiatric nurse in 1978 - and while other people may have opinions about various issues connected with psychiatry, I guess my specific qualifications & experience give mine more weight and credibility than those without (if not, why bother with education and experience at all?)
4. Without the massive energy profit we get from fossil fuels, there would be nothing to "Tax." Taxes (and profits), do not just appear out of thin air - they have a material base, and that material base is coal, oil and gas.
5. Just because the-powers-that-be may be framing the solution to a problem in ways that are inequitable, it does not mean the problem itself it not real. |

2.Your arguements makes so little sense.
3.You butt in and make sweeping remarks.
4.You use wiki as a source of "information".
5.You generally are critical and spiteful.
6.Your use of numbers is boring and pathetic.
7.You are a hypocrite. |

Yes Kim you stay there reading your peer reviewed journals on global warming while I'll stay in the bush enjoying the birds, the trees, the animals and the crops we grow in the beautiful countryside just the same as I have for the last 22 years not worrying about global warming at all.
And just as a last comment on this subject , there are growing numbers of rural producers who are speaking out against arrogant city-based academics in the bureaucracy who are completely impractical and know nothing about food production (except what they read in a book)pushing their phony science and short term solutions. |

Some points.
1. You made some assertions about Global Warming, and I questioned your qualifications and experience to do so. If you choose to make assertions, be prepared to defend them on those terms - and if you can't then that's your problem, not mine.
2. If there's one thing that irritates me, it's the tendency in some quarters to retreat into the "Poor, humble, uneducated but honest" stance when legitimately challenged on any issue. Our Beaudesert Shire Mayor Joy Drescher does it all the time (you know, "I'm just a good 'ol country girl" thing, it drives me insane). So for the record, I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth either, few of us are:
www.kimspages.org
3. I don't doubt you know something about the land you live and work on, and probably more than some academics.
4. As far as "Phony science" is concerned, that's rich - considering those that trash the science of global warming (and trash the scientists who are ringing the alarm bells), are more than willing to swallow whole and unadulterated the assertions of people who:
a. Have zero qualifications in climate science.
b. Refuse to allow their work to be evaluated by their peers (that's what publishing in the peer-reviewed press means).
c. Are openly funded and supported by vested interests. |

| Some climate scientists would be like financial advisors who are part of the system and make bucks out of pushing an idea or product for short term profit. Even Johnny Rotten Howard and gay Downer hopped onto the global warming bandwagon to push uranium mining and the nuclear power industry on to us. They said we could have nuclear power plants all along the coast and that would save us from global warming. Its a pity that we haven't got a character like Chavez in this country and make Australia for Australians rather then selling our soul to big multi-national corporations and their zionist controllers. |

Some points:
1. John Howard's support of nuclear power (and Downer's for that matter), had nothing to do with Global Warming - even though the slimy b******s tried to dress it up that way. And I agree that their push for nuclear power had nothing to do with the environment, and everything to do with enriching their mates.
2. Both those character had (and have), a long history of frustrating moves to address Global Warming. This ABC 4 Corners edition "The Greenhouse Mafia" (Feb 2006), gets into the ins and outs of that:
http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/content/2006/s1566257.htm
. . . and also documents the deep links between the fossil fuel lobby, and the tobacco lobby (and we all know smoking's perfectly harmless, don't we? Not . . .) And here are a couple of books that also take an in-depth look at the "Dirty politics" of Climate Change in Australia (I've read them):
Clive Hamilton, "Scorcher"
http://www.abc.net.au/rn/saturdayextra/stories/2007/1901158.htm
Guy Pearse, "High & Dry"
http://www.guypearse.com/
3. Scientists that have spoken out on Global Warming (both here and in the USA), have been censored, bullied and otherwise victimised by the politicians. Dr. Graeme Pearman (Australia), is just one key example:
http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2006/s1568322.htm
. . . and I could go on with others (but I guess you know that by now )
4. Further, as you can see via this press release from the Australian Climate Institute (Aug 2007):
http://www.climateinstitute.org.au//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=40
. . . our climate scientists do not support nuclear energy. And here's the backround re that organisation, and Dr. Graeme Pearman is on the board:
http://www.climateinstitute.org.au//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=37&Itemid=26
And here's their "Source Watch" entry:
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Climate_Institute_%28Australia%29
5. I certainly think Chavez has his good points (and he's a damn sight better for the populace than the likes of Pinochet et al), but I'm totally un-enamoured with leaders of any stripe, period. Further, the source of Chavez's power is not Chavez, it's the people. That's why he's still alive, and still there. Over the next few years, survival will be predicated on the strength and resilience of our local communities, forget about "Solutions" coming from the top-down. It just won't happen.
6. Saying our troubles are related to some over-arching "Zionist" conspiracy is way too simple. I'm sure the elites of every country, ethnicity and religion have their snouts in the trough. |

| I know I shouldn't be saying this on this thread but if you don't understand Zionist Jews and Zionist evangelical Christians particularly in the US ,Britain. Australia and France and the desperation of them all to keep Israel the way it is or even bigger then you don't understand a huge chunk of the 9/11 evil. |

And it's not something I want to get into either. There's probably many layers to this onion, and many bits of the jig-saw - but let's just say 9/11 did not happen because of Zionists or Evangelical Christians. If domestic oil production in the USA was still satisfying every need of our psychotic & exponential monetary system (and then some), and hadn't fallen off a cliff in 1970, then this desperate and evil act would not have happened.
Follow the money, and follow the energy.
It's like explaining the origins of the First world War by saying it was because a certain Duke was assasinated. As British comedian Robert Newman quipped, "I didn't think anyone was that popular." And in the same way, no interest group (or nation), trumps the energy and money trail . . . |
