Very interesting doco - loved some of the comments by the scientists! Was very interested to see that sea levels at the Maldives Archipelago have actually dropped so much since 1970.
The bit about last century having the coldest temperatures in 10,000 years certainly adds some perspective to the warming of late last century - which is definitely not the warmest period in even the last 1,000 years. Strange how the GW 'experts' conveniently ignore the Medieval Warming and the Little Ice Age

seems like a good doco. _________________ Come to http://vtil.org/bbs/ for more alternative information.
On some positions, Cowardice asks the question, "Is it safe?" Expediency asks the question, "Is it politic?" And Vanity comes along and asks the question, "Is it popular?" But Conscience asks the question "Is it right?" And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it becuse Conscience tells him it is right. - M. King |

i got to watch it in full last night.... (Google hates me...)
some good info there and much food for thought.
i did come away thinking there are some good people that i hope will raise there voices when the big push comes through for tax ect. ect.
has anyone seen and can recall the names of any doco to do with the conveyor belt slowing down?
conveyor belt is the name some scientists give the great current that pushes warm water past england and is the sole reason its not covered with ice 24/7... i watched a very good doco on tv one night before i fully realized the significances and worth writing down its name would be down the track....
in the doco i seen the scientists investigated the sea floor where the conveyor dips down after hitting the fresh water run off from Greenland to look for evidence of slowing and speeding up of the movement...
there was (among other life) a certain type of shell fish that lived at the sea floor and core samples taken proved that in time past these shell fish were some times only a quarter of the present size and at other times before that were exactly the same size.....
speed and flow of the conveyor directly influences the amount of nutrients that reach the sea floor, therefor logically we have more proof of natural occurrences shifting global temperatures. _________________ what if i say i will never surrender? |

Can't remember the name of that doco for the life of me! Watched it on the ABC some time ago - it was a BBC one from memory.
The analysis of the shellfish showed temperature fluctuations that matched previously existing data from ice core analysis etc. It was able to show that each time the conveyor belt (gulfstream) had stopped in the past it had precipitated an ice age. It is the salinity that forces the warmer water down and around to head back south, so if the ocean has too much fresh water flowing into it from rivers or melted ice the 'conveyor belt' will stop dead in it's tracks, greatly lowering temperatures in the UK and Norway. _________________ In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. - George Orwell |
