Correlating WTC 1 Seismic Data with Time Stamped Video May Help us to
Evaluate the Relative Merits of the Demolition Vs Gravitional Collapse
Hypotheses.

Henceforth I will refer to this document as Seismic Report.

PART 1.

NOTE: 2nd collapse = WTC 1 =  north tower = first building hit.
 
The Seismic Report has a label which states (p.6):
 
10:28:31
Second Collapse ML=2.3
 
It is unclear from the label exactly at which point on the horizontal axis is matched with the time: 10:28:31 
 
I have provided an annotated version of the graph (wtc_peak.jpg) which uses the UTC time marker to precisely determine times of major events on the graph.
 
NOTE: I assume that the time marked on the graph represents adjusted time for propagation of the seismic wave (34 km @ 2 km/s = 17 sec (Seismic Report: p.1).
 
Onset of the Major Peak = 10:28:47.88
     
        - 17 (travel offset)
      = 10:28:30.88  ...
      = 10:28:31 (rounded)
 
 
End of the Major Peak = 10:28:56.76
                       
      - 17 (travel offset)
      = 10:28:39.76
      = 10:28:40 (rounded)
 

PART 2

The instant of commencement of the collapse can be independently verfied by watching this CNN video which has a clock.

Although the clock does not mark seconds, you can use your movie player (quicktime is best) to calibrate the time by counting the seconds forward from when the clock ticks over to 10:28. This occurs at 00:00:05 seconds in the video.
 
So,
 
absolute time =  video time - 5 secs.
 
Now observe the first moment of collapse. This occurs at video
 
 00:00:28 (video)
 10:28:23 (EDT)
 
Now observe the collapse. Try to calculate the earliest moment the that bulk of falling debris begins to hit the ground. My calculations are:
 
 00:00:40 (video)
 10:28:35 (EDT)
 
It is hard to tell exactly what happens after this point because the entire building has been obscured by the dust cloud, but, according to my observation, at 10:28:35 the bulk of the mass of the towers has certainly not hit the ground. 
 
 

PART 3 - Comparing the Video evidence with the Seismic Evidence.

To recap, the video shows us:
  collapse beginning at 10:28:23.
  bulk of debris begins hits ground after: 10:28:35.
 
In the light of the video evidence, if the sesimic spike were caused by rubble hitting the ground, we should not expect it to begin before
 
(conservatively)    10:28:35
(realistically)         10:28:37
 
But we know that the spike is correlated with an event which starts at 10:28:31.
 
Thus we must conclude that the seismic spike is not generated by rubble hitting the ground, but by the process of collapse itself.
 
Now let us consider what is happening in the video at 10:28:31.
 
In the video, 10:28:26 marks the last point at which the part of the tower above the imapct zone is still visible. The top of the antenna disappears from view at 10:28:29, at which point the upper part of the tower seems to have completely disintegrated.

The commencement of the collpase is missing in the NE-1 video, but you can correlate the time with the CNN video by looking at the top of the antenna.
 
As you can see, at the start of the video the antenna is almost, but not quite, vertical. It is in the process of dropping down and to the left. My calculations tell me that the instant of the beginning of this video corresponds to 00:00:32 on the CNN video, ie: 10:28:27.
 
Now lets roll the video forwards 4 secs to see what is happening at 10:28:31, the onset of the big seismic peak.
 
The change in state over those 4 seconds is quite dramatic. Clearly massive amounts of energy are being released. Huge streamers of dust and rubble are shooting out in all directions.
 
I have screen captured 4 images representing snapshots at 4 moments in time:

Clearly a massively energetic event is occuring during these crucual seconds.
 

Part 4.

So, What Really Happened?
 
I will now examine the merits of two hypotheses which can explain what we see:
 
1. Gravitional collapse.
2. Explosion.
