Default Is the latest wikileaks release actually serving US interests?

The latest wikileaks release appears to be directly targeted at Pakistan - at least that is the way it is being spun in the news.

Specifically they are saying that Pakistan is colluding with the Taliban.

It is the top story on the BBC World Today right now. Extraordinarily, the news presenter admitted that the US military may indeed welcome the release of this information.

The Pakistan Government is vehemently rejecting the accusations of collusion with the Taliban. On the BBC just now the Pakistani government spokesperson said that the whole affair was an attempt to sabotage the US/Pakistan relationship. This comes at a time when the US is stepping up predator drone attacks against targets in Pakistan.

Quote:
The documents showed Pakistan actively collaborated with the Afghan insurgency, the New York Times reported.

The reports also suggest:
  • The Taliban has had access to portable heat-seeking missiles to shoot at aircraft.
  • A secret US unit of army and navy special forces has been engaged on missions to "capture or kill" top insurgents.
  • Many civilian casualties - caused by Taliban roadside bombs and Nato missions that went wrong - have gone unreported.
The BBC's diplomatic correspondent Bridget Kendall says that although the documents reveal no dramatic new insights, they show the difficulties of the war and the civilan death toll.

No dramatic new insights? Meanwhile Washington gives wikileaks a slap on the wrist - calling it "irresponsible".

Go figure.

Maybe wikileaks is just meant to appear as presenting the truth, considering Julian is quite "annoyed" at the 9/11 truth movement.

Excuse offtopic, but I noticed my Microsoft Messenger is featuring this story, in a space usually reserved for 'news' about Justin Beiber, MTV shows, what Lady Gaga is wearing, and other useless trash-topics to keep people preoccupied with rubbish.

To me that says it ALL.

I think the political analyst in that video hit the nail on the head. I remember Assange not being fully trusted by the regulars here from day one and It looks like you all were right.
His 911 remarks were an eyeopener and It makes you wonder where Wikileaks is headed and what It's actual role is.

Just watched Lateline...

Iran supplying weapons to anti-US forces was mentioned.

Something isn't right anymore.

Cryptome has had a few pot-shots at Wikileaks in the past. Here's a recent interview with John Young:

Wayne Madsen also has some doubts
